# Remember the Maine

> Remember the Maine, the IBA official recipe: 60 ml rye whiskey, 22.5 ml sweet vermouth, 15 ml cherry liqueur and 7.5 ml absinthe. Stirred and served up in a chilled cocktail glass, garnished with lemon zest.

## Ingredients

Amounts are for one drink. Ounces use 30 ml to the ounce.

- 60 ml (2 oz) [Rye whiskey](https://jigger-5rd.pages.dev/ingredients/rye/index.md)
- 22.5 ml (¾ oz) [Sweet vermouth](https://jigger-5rd.pages.dev/ingredients/sweet-vermouth/index.md)
- 15 ml (½ oz) [Cherry liqueur](https://jigger-5rd.pages.dev/ingredients/cherry-liqueur/index.md)
- 7.5 ml (¼ oz) [Absinthe](https://jigger-5rd.pages.dev/ingredients/absinthe/index.md)

## Method

1. Pour the absinthe into a coupe glass and swirl to completely coat the inside.
2. Discard the absinthe and set the glass aside.
3. Add the other ingredients to a mixing glass and fill it 3/4 full with ice.
4. Stir until chilled, then strain into the glass rinsed with the absinthe.

## Garnish

Lemon zest.
