# New York Sour

> New York Sour, the IBA official recipe: bourbon, simple syrup, lemon juice, egg and red wine. Shaken and served on the rocks.

A whiskey sour with a float of red wine that settles on top like a sunset.

- Strength: about 14.5% ABV once diluted by ice, about 1.6 standard drinks (14 g of alcohol each)
- Volume: 133 ml (4⅜ oz) before ice, about 200 ml in the glass
- Taste: Sour, Creamy

## Ingredients

Amounts are for one drink. Ounces use 30 ml to the ounce.

- 60 ml (2 oz) [Bourbon or rye whiskey](https://jigger-5rd.pages.dev/ingredients/bourbon/index.md)
- 22.5 ml (¾ oz) [Simple syrup](https://jigger-5rd.pages.dev/ingredients/simple-syrup/index.md)
- 30 ml (1 oz) [Lemon juice](https://jigger-5rd.pages.dev/ingredients/lemon/index.md)
- Few drops [Egg white](https://jigger-5rd.pages.dev/ingredients/egg/index.md)
- 15 ml (½ oz) [Red wine](https://jigger-5rd.pages.dev/ingredients/red-wine/) (Shiraz or Malbec)

## Method

1. Pour all ingredients into the shaker.
2. Shake vigorously with ice.
3. Strain into a chilled rocks glass filled with ice.
4. Float the wine on top.

## Garnish

Lemon or orange zest with cherry.

## Notes

Contains raw egg.
