# Canchanchara

> Canchanchara, the IBA official recipe: 60 ml Cuban aguardiente, 15 ml lime juice, 15 ml raw honey and 50 ml water. Built in the glass and served over crushed ice, garnished with a lime wedge.

Cuba’s oldest cocktail: aguardiente, raw honey and lime, drunk by fighters in the 19th-century wars of independence.

## Ingredients

Amounts are for one drink. Ounces use 30 ml to the ounce.

- 60 ml (2 oz) [Cuban aguardiente](https://jigger-5rd.pages.dev/ingredients/white-rum/index.md) (or a young Cuban rum)
- 15 ml (½ oz) [Lime juice](https://jigger-5rd.pages.dev/ingredients/lime/index.md)
- 15 ml (½ oz) [Raw honey](https://jigger-5rd.pages.dev/ingredients/honey/index.md)
- 50 ml (1⅔ oz) Water

## Method

1. Mix honey with water and lime juice and spread the mixture on the bottom and sides of the glass.
2. Add cracked ice, and then the rum.
3. End by energetically stirring from bottom to top.

## Garnish

A lime wedge.
